Watch the entire series at www.hsph.me/voices. Dr. Leslie Ramsammy has served as Minister of Agriculture for Guyana since 2011. Previously, he was Minister of Health from 2001 to 2011, where he worked extensively in reducing deaths and infections in Guyana from HIV/AIDS. His broad public health stewardship saw him elected Chair of The Global Fund board for Affordable Medicines for Malaria, a position that he currently holds. Dr. Ramsammy has also served as President of the 61st World Health Assembly; and has chaired numerous national, regional and international committees; and has served in Parliament in Guyana since 1997. Dr. Ramsammy received his Ph. D in biochemistry and M.Sc. in biology from St. John’s University, and his B.Sc. in microbiology from Pace University. He has published works in several scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals, and on topics including health sector reform, national health strategy, and HIV/AIDS as a public health challenge. Dr. Ramsammy is a Menschel Senior Leadership Fellow at the Harvard T. H Chan School of Public Health in spring 2015. Genre harvard
