Health insurance enrollment websites experience smoother relaunch

The launch of this year’s open enrollment period for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act went much more smoothly than last year, according Benjamin Sommers, assistant professor of health policy and economics at Harvard School of Public Health.

He told WGBH Boston on November 17, 2014 that the Massachusetts Health Connector website appears to be working well for first time users.

He said, “what’s going to take longer to sort out are how things are working on the backend of the website design issue,  and that relates to what information gets conveyed to the insurance company, whether information about who is  enrolled and how much they need to pay is correct.”

Health care websites nationwide appear to be experiencing fewer problems than last year, he said.
